Special Edition Weekly Review: January 16th-22nd

Friends, family and community members of all ages are welcome at Rescue 7’s 3rd annual Winter Carnival, in partnership with the Chase McEachern Memorial Fund!

For those of you who don’t know Chase’s story, he was a typical 12 year old boy who loved school, sports, and team play. In 2005, he suffered an injury and was airlifted to Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto where he learnt of his atrial flutter — a heart condition that makes the heart beat too fast. Newly aware of his common condition, Chase began his campaign to make AEDs mandatory in hockey arenas and schools everywhere. Sadly, before the campaign even truly began, Chase collapsed while warming up in gym class to play volleyball, and his school did not have a defibrillator. Chase was airlifted to London, but he could not overcome his injuries and he passed away.

It was Chase’s dream to put defibrillators in every school, arena and public place so that nothing like this could happen to other kids. The Chase McEachern Memorial Fund and Rescue 7 are focused on carrying out Chase’s dream, but they need YOUR help.

That’s where the Winter Carnival comes in! For only $10 per person in advance, or $20 per person at the door, you can have a day (or even a weekend) full of good times at The Heights Of Horseshoe.

Come to ski, snowboard or just hang out in the newly renovated clubhouse. Ski and snowboard rentals will be made available, as well as horse-drawn sleigh rides, a pancake breakfast, beer-, wine- and cheese-tastings and much more. Apres ski, there will be a pub night, complete with a live band! Rescue 7 has also arranged for special accommodation rates at Horseshoe Resort (just call us for more details on this!).
